‘It’s critical America flies the flag for freedoms that allow new ways of inventing the future:’ Great little video if you are struggling to understanding what’s at stake, if the US anti-piracy act is passed. N. (via curiosity counts)

"Challenge is to let readers know what they’re... →
The Monthly did well under outgoing editor Ben Naperstek, recording a year-on-year increase in readership of 34.4% (121,000 covers) and a bump in circulation of 21.5% (29,982). But change is good and having these two men at the helm of two of our country’s flagship magazines for long-form journalism can only be a good thing for readers, writers and the public. N.

The Logic of Mary Poppins
I went to Mary Poppins – The Musical with Mum:  ‘ a treat for putting in so much effort at school this year,” (read University, I’m completing a master’s degree). Two things became apparent to me after the show; incentives from your mother are much the same in your late twenties as they are in your ‘terrible twos,’ and that Mary Poppins lady is one smart crumpet. The musical, which features the...

Future of News and why “digital first" matters →
Interesting article on the need for newspapers to flip the publishing model if they are to survive and thrive in the digital age. The UK Guardian has been using the digital first method of news production since as early as June this year. It seems so obvious and sustainable. I’m not sure why it has not been adopted across the board. N.

I heart Tumblr and I’m pleased they are doing so well, but I do think there is a ways to go, particularly with regards to technical support and creating an engaged, or even visible, community. NV (via Mashable)
